Cairo, Egypt – A capacity building workshop organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) kicked off in Cairo on Monday, launching a 4-day program focused on advancing women’s soccer across the continent.
The workshop, running from February 26-29, has brought together various stakeholders in African women’s football to provide training and mentorship for aspiring female administrators and executives.
“The event aims to take women’s Football to the next level, said Meskerem Tadesse, Head of Women’s Football for CAF, in her opening remarks.
“We want to empower women in football to become football directors, presidents, and more,” “And we want to make sure that African young girls can aim high.”
The sessions will focus on leadership and governance, strategic planning, marketing and communications, and other critical areas for developing the women’s game.
Experts will share insights and best practices to help prepare attendees for decision-making positions.
The 4-day event has received praise from football associations across Africa as an initiative to promote gender equality and inclusivity.
Organizers hope it will lead to more women in influential roles and more opportunities for girls and women on the pitch.
