The African Union (AU) has announced it will convene a Forum on Financial and Economic Inclusion for Women and Girls in celebration of International Women’s Day 2024 (#IWD2024).
The high-level event,to be held at the AU Headquarters, aims to foster dialogue and engagement on strategies to expand economic opportunities and access to financial resources for women and girls across the continent.
Topics to be explored include promoting women’s entrepreneurship, equalizing access to finance and credit, advancing financial literacy, and mainstreaming gender perspectives in economic policymaking.
The one-day forum will convene government leaders, policymakers, development partners, private sector stakeholders, civil society groups and women’s rights advocates from AU member states.
The #IWD2024 Financial and Economic Inclusion Forum forms part of the AU’s continuing efforts to drive progress on gender equality in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the AU’s own Agenda 2063.
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8th, is a globally recognized day to honor the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
It serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality and empowering women and girls around the world.
