In a ceremony at the Sefako M. Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse on Tuesday, Canadian national Ken Luckhardt was awarded the Order of the Companions of O.R. Tambo in Silver by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, for “friendship” shown to the country”
President Ramaphosa, the Grand Patron of the National Orders, bestowed the prestigious award on Luckhardt in recognition of his efforts to strengthen ties between Canada and South Africa over many years.
While Luckhardt’s specific achievements were not detailed, the Order of Companions honors those who have made exceptional contributions to forging bonds of friendship and solidarity with South Africa’s democratic government.
The Order of Companions of O.R. Tambo is one of South Africa’s highest honors for foreign nationals who have demonstrated outstanding friendship and solidarity with the nation. It recognizes contributions in areas such as peace, cooperation, international support, and advancing South Africa’s multilateral relations around the world.
