Namibia President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba met with leaders of the Namibian Federation of the Visually Impaired this week, an organization he has served as patron for over 25 years.
According to a statement from the president’s office, the visit on Thursday allowed Dr. Mbumba to discuss the federation’s plans and priorities for the upcoming 2024/2025 year.
“I visited the Namibian Federation of the Visually Impaired, of which I have been Patron since 1998 in order to discuss their needs and work plans for the year 2024/2025.
The Namibian Federation of the Visually Impaired advocates for the rights and inclusion of blind and low vision individuals. It offers services like vision screening, computer skills training, and braille literacy programs.
President Mbumba has been the official patron of the NFVI since 1998, using his position to raise awareness and funding for the organization’s initiatives.
During his visit, the president toured the federation’s facilities and met with visually impaired members to better understand their experiences.
