The third edition of the Malian Renewable Energy Week (SemR3) will take place next week from February 29 to March 2 at the Bamako International Conference Center.
The event is organized by Mali’s Ministry of Energy and Water through the Mali Renewable Energy Agency (AER-Mali), in partnership with institutions like the African Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and the Climate Investment Funds.
The Malian prime minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga will preside over the high-level forum that runs until March 2 as the upcoming SemR3 forum offers free and secure entry for all participants.
SemR3 will focus on promoting renewable energy opportunities in Mali under the theme “Promoting opportunities in the renewable energy sector in Mali: Renewable Energy Integration Investment Plan (REI) – CIF”.
Participants will discuss strategies to scale up solar, wind, biomass and other clean energy sources.
Over 600 attendees are expected, including industry players, investors, government representatives and energy associations. They will take part in conferences, business meetings and exhibitions featuring about 50 companies in the sustainable energy sector.
The highlight will be the launch of a new African Development Bank initiative, Desert to Power, which seeks to harness solar resources in the Sahel.
Regarding the scientific program, there will be B2B meetings, thematic conferences, booth visits, and a gala networking dinner for all stakeholders to close out.
The first edition of SemR took place from February 19-23, 2019 at the Laïco L’Amitié hotel in Bamako and was a great success.
SemR3 will also feature Mali’s progress as a pioneer in renewables. Past editions held in 2019 and 2021 in Bamako and Abidjan respectively were great successes.
As an annual event, the Malian Renewable Energy Week enables key talks between corporates, investors, officials, community leaders and residents. They collaborate on advancing clean energy in Mali and the wider West Africa region.
Participants will network and forge valuable partnerships to advance Africa’s sustainable energy future.
