The draw for the 11th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup was conducted on Wednesday in Bogota, the capital of Colombia at the Hall Centro de Eventos.
It will be the first time 24 countries will compete for the coveted World Cup trophy. 17 teams competed in the 2022 edition hosted by Costa Rica.
African contingents Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco and Cameroon have all learned their opponents.
The Black Princesses of Ghana was put in Group E alongside the 2018 champions Japan. New Zealand and Austria complete the group.
Twice the runner-up of the competition ( 2010, 2014), Falconets of Nigeria are in Group D with three times champions Germany ( 2004, 2010 and 2014). South Korea and Venezuela are the other two teams in the group.
Atlas Lionesses of Morocco will make their debut at the World Cup and have to battle defending champions Spain and 3 times winners the USA ( 2002, 2008, 2012). Paraguay completes the group.
Cameroon’s Les Lionnes Indomptables is in Group A alongside host nation Colombia. Australia and Mexico are the other countries Morocco will face.
The World Cup is scheduled to be played in the cities of Bogota, Cali and Medellín in Colombia from 29th August to 22nd September in 2024.
