German football club Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly shown interest in Moroccan footballer Abde Ezzalzouli.
Sports news outlet SportsKeeda said the Atlas Lion is a top target for Leverkusen ahead of the summer transfer window.
“The German’s club manager Xabi Alonso appreciates the youngster’s profile and wants him to move to the Bundesliga,” the outlet said.
The interest comes as Karim Bellarabi, a key player for Leverkusen, is expected to leave the club when his contract ends next month, with Luverkusen aspiring to strengthen its attack.
Several clubs have shown interest in Ezzalzouli, particularly for his eye-catching performances with Osasuna, where he has been playing on loan from FC Barcelona.
A recent report said England’s Leeds United is among the clubs interested in the Atlas Lion.
Leeds are reportedly ready to pay a £35 million offer to FC Barcelona to secure a deal with Ezzalzouli during the summer transfer window.
Some reports also suggest that FC Barcelona is planning to bring back the Moroccan to play for them once his loan spell ends.
The speculation came to light following head coach Xavi Hernandez’s comments on Ezzalzouli’s development with Osasuna.
In April, Xavi said, “We’ll decide when the season ends. I see him as a great talent to succeed at Barca but it depends on his mentality,” stressing that the Moroccan footballer “is making the most of his loan.”
Xavi noted that he was “very happy” with Ezzalzouli, adding that the club needs players at shi level.
