Kenya’s President William Ruto has hosted the Kenya National Music Festival (KNMF) State Concert at the State Lodge in Eldoret City.
The best performances from the 96th KNMF were presented to the president and other dignitaries at the event on Friday.
This year’s festival, held from 2-14 August, focused on the theme “Talent Development For Growth of the Creative Economy”.
The KNMF is an annual talent development initiative overseen by the Ministry of Education and is considered the largest festival of its kind in East and Central Africa.
President Ruto, who serves as the festival’s patron, said: “We are investing in the creative economy to unlock the sector’s immense opportunities in creating gainful employment opportunities.”
He added: “In the creative arts, we will continue to support the Kenya Music Festivals to identify and nurture the raw and potent talent in music, dance and poetry found in our young learners.”
The festival’s affairs are managed by an Executive Committee appointed by the Cabinet Secretary, with technical support from the Directorate for Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities.
