German Bundesliga 2 teams, FC. St. Pauli, have secured the services of German-born Ghanaian forward David Otto to replace Ghana star Daniel-Kofi Kyereh.
The 23-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Jahn Regensburg, had a contract with Hoffenheim that was set to expire on 30 June 2023.
The lower-tier German have signed the talented attacker as replacement for Kyereh who recently left the club to join German Bundesliga side SC Freiburg.
Speaking of David Otto’s arrival, St. Pauli manager Timo Schultz said the club hopes to bring the Ghanaian guardant to his best.
The attacker, who made three Bundesliga appearances for TSG, made the move to the club’s youth academy from his hometown club 1. FC 08 Birkenfeld while still an U14 player.
In 2018, Otto signed his first professional contact at the age of 18. The striker regularly trained with the senior squad towards the end of the first half of the 2017/18 campaign, and made his professional debut in the 1-1 draw with Bulgarians Ludogorets in the Europa League.
In 2018/19, Otto helped the U19s reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League.
The seasons that followed saw the former U20 international (seven appearances, three goals) join 2. Bundesliga clubs 1. FC Heidenheim and SSV Jahn Regensburg, where he got some important minutes under his belt, on loan.
In total, Otto made 66 appearances and scored five goals in the second tier.
Last month, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh joined SC Freiburg, a German Bundesliga side.
