The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi and 38 other constituency chairmen have declared their support for the incumbent National Chairman of the party Samuel Ofosu Ampofo ahead of this weekend’s national delegates conference of the party.

According to Nana Kwasi, NDC in Ashanti owns their electoral success in the 2020 general elections to incumbent national chairman of the NDC.

He says the partey was able to recapture the New Edubiase constituency parliament seat which they lost to the NPP in 2016 elections in 2020 because of significant resources the incumbent chairman released to the party.

He is therefore urging all delegates in the Ashanti region to vote against Asiedu Nketia and retain Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

“My big boss Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is in the Ashanti region to wrap up his campaign. I’m very happy for the massive welcome you have given him. I’m proud to lead him to every corner of the region to meet all the delegates who will be voting in Accra next weekend’’ he said.

He added’’ I’m very proud that you have all responded to my calls when I invited you all to come and meet him. What you have done clearly explains that Ashanti NDC is clearly under my control because when I call you response’’ he noted.

Justifying his support to the incumbent Chairman, Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi said, through the hard work of the incumbent Chairman the party recaptured several seats in parliament which the party lost to their ruling government in 2016 general elections that gave the NPP clear majority in Parliament.

“Through the relentless effort of the Chairman the party can boast of hang parliament which therefore, it will be political suicidal for the party to change the strategic leader whose effort is sure of granting the NDC victory in election 2024’’.

The Incumbent Chairman of the  National Democratic Congress (NDC) who today received a rousing welcome to the Ashanti as he wraps up his campaign activities in the  region ahead of the party’s national delegates conference commended party members for remaining loyal to him.

Ofosu Ampofo said he is going into this election as a person who doesn’t encourage political violence but believes politics if retained will guarantee the NDC’s victory in elections 2024 because of his personality.

Nhyaeso Constituency Ernst Afayam who spoke on behalf of supposed 38 constituency chairman in the region also declared their support to the incumbent Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to be retained as National Chairman of the NDC said, they work with him in election 2020 and are confident that he will lead the party into victory in election 2024.

He said, they are not just saying this because Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is in the region for campaign, stressing they are poised to go all out to ensure his re-election.

He assured the incumbent chairman and his supporters that the party will whip the regional leadership whip if not all majority of the delegates in the Ashanti region vote for the incumbent chairman to retire Asiedu Nketia.

Failed Ashanti regional Youth Organizer hopeful, Francis Dodovi also told GHone News, the party can’t trust the leadership of Asiedu Nketia as Chairman of the party rather than general secretary of the party.

He explained that once the party general secretary who has held the general secretary position for 17 years is no longer interested in his secured position the supporters have no option but to retire him from active politics.
