Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Singapore seeking to strengthen economic ties and attract investment to his West African nation.
The visit comes after Mr Mahama attended the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Summit in Japan, as part of a strategic tour aimed at deepening Ghana’s international partnerships.
In a statement posted on social media, President Mahama highlighted the potential for collaboration between the two nations.
“Ghana and Singapore share a forward-looking outlook anchored in innovation, skills, and enterprise,” Mr Mahama said.
“This visit will translate our shared values into practical cooperation—bringing Singaporean investment and know-how into Ghana’s priority sectors whilst opening new pathways for Ghanaian businesses across Southeast Asia.”
The president’s visit to the Southeast Asian city-state represents Ghana’s continued efforts to diversify its economic partnerships beyond traditional allies.

Singapore, known for its business-friendly environment and strategic position as a gateway to Asian markets, offers significant opportunities for Ghanaian enterprises seeking to expand their regional presence.
The visit follows Mr Mahama’s participation in the TICAD Summit in Tokyo, where African leaders engaged with Japanese counterparts on development cooperation and investment opportunities.
Ghana’s priority sectors for foreign investment include technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and renewable energy, areas where Singapore has demonstrated considerable expertise.
The president’s emphasis on “practical cooperation” suggests concrete agreements and memoranda of understanding may emerge from the bilateral discussions.
This diplomatic tour underscores Ghana’s strategy of leveraging high-level international engagements to attract foreign direct investment and technology transfer.
