Kenyan troops under the East African Community regional force (EACRF) offered medical aid to an expectant lady in Kibumba, a locality in eastern DR Congo, and took her to Kinyaruchinya Health Center where she had a successful delivery.
The troops later helped her get back home and offered Foodstuff to the family, which appreciated the support from the troops, EACRF tweeted on Friday, May 26.
The regional force said it continues to enhance the protection of civilians, opening up the main supply routes for the free flow of people and goods and aiding humanitarian assistance in the joint operation area for socioeconomic development in the ongoing peace and stability efforts in eastern DR Congo.

Ever since the troops arrived, they have helped take control of areas from which the M23 rebel group withdrew. The EAC regional force comprising troops from Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and South Sudan has secured several territories vacated by the M23 rebels.
Eastern DR Congo is home to more than 130 foreign and local armed groups, which are responsible for atrocities. The region has remained volatile for nearly three decades.

Earlier in May, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) announced that it would deploy troops to eastern DR Congo to combat armed groups and restore security ahead of national elections in December.
After helping her to deliver, the Kenyan troops later assisted her back home and offered foodstuffs to the family.
