Drug dealers in the South African town of Howick, outside Pietermaritzburg, ran out of luck after they were arrested while attempting to flee the scene.
AET Security reported that whilst on patrol in the Howick area, their alert rapid response officer witnessed some men in distress.
“They reported that they had been robbed and the Toyota Fortuner which the suspects were driving was fleeing the scene.”
Quick reaction from the ever-ready AET officers resulted in a high-speed chase through the streets of Howick and into the roads of Merrivale.
“The Fortuner dropped off two suspects. Our Members, trained to pursue criminals in their full kit, followed on foot and managed to apprehend one of the suspects despite the heat of the day,” the company reported.
It is also reported that a second suspect was apprehended by another security company.
“These suspects were in possession of large amounts of money and drugs.
The members then proceeded back to Howick to an undisclosed location where they were able to apprehend a third suspect and recover some more drugs and money,” AET Security reported, adding that the case was handed over to Howick SAPS.
The previous day, Thursday, 12 January, AET Security received a call from a distressed client requesting assistance after he had established that he had been fraudulently robbed by a customer who produced a fake proof of payment reflecting a duplicate of payment of material to the value of around R9,000.
“Information was gathered by AET Security Members, who then conducted an investigation which lead to a hunt for the vehicle involved in the reported case.
The vehicle was positively identified in the Edendale area with the load of material that was purchased with fake payment still on it. Approximately R9,000 worth of material was recovered and two suspects were handed over to SAPS,” the company detailed.
