Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan marked three years since being sworn in as the Head of State, expressing gratitude for the well-wishes received and reiterating a commitment to guiding the country towards justice, peace, and development for all citizens.
In a short address to the nation, Tanzanian leader called on divine guidance to help steer the nation forward and ensure that policies and programs implemented across the country ultimately benefit every Tanzanian regardless of their location.
“I thank you all for your good wishes and love on the anniversary of three years since I swore to serve our country in the position of President of the United Republic of Tanzania,” President Hassan stated.
“May the merciful God continue to guide us and maintain us in justice, peace, unity and stability so that everything we plan and implement in every corner of our country will be a blessing to every Tanzanian wherever he is,” President Hassan’s statement read.
The appeal for national unity and equitable progress comes at a time when the East African country is pursuing an ambitious development agenda across multiple sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and mining among others.
As Tanzania’s first female president and the 6th head of state since independence, Hassan’s anniversary message underscores her administration’s resolve to govern for all citizens and lay the foundation for long-term prosperity.
Hassan assumed the presidency in March 2021 after the passing of her predecessor John Magufuli. Previously the vice president from 2015, the 63-year-old leader hails from Zanzibar and is the first woman to hold Tanzania’s highest office.
Three years into her historic tenure, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is positioning her government as one focused on uniting all Tanzanians as the nation pursues its development goals in the years ahead.
