Accra, Ghana – High jump gold winner Rose Ammoanima Yeboah has revealed the mindset that propelled her to successfully defend her title at the 2023 African Games on Tuesday.
The Ghanaian athlete overcame intense competition to retain her continental crown.
clearing 1.87m to emerge as the undisputed queen of the continent’s high jump in a pulsating final on Tuesday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
“I am really overwhelmed to count the winner for this year’s African Games,” she said.
“I went into the competition with sound mind and I knew I was going to win but looking at all the Competitor, they were all going for the Gold. No one was there to joke.”
The 22-year-old’s triumph in the fiercely competitive final etched her name deeper into the annals of African athletics history.
She continued her remarkable dominance in the high jump, having won gold at the last African Games in Rabat in 2019. Clearing 1.87m in front of her home crowd made this latest title even more special.
