UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the establishment of an air bridge to deliver critical aid to Morocco following the powerful earthquake the country witnessed on Friday night.
Earlier on Saturday, Rulers of the UAE’s different emirates sent cables of condolences to King Mohammed VI over the victims of the quake, wishing recovery to all the injured.
Condolences also came from other countries including Qatar, Oman, and Turkey. Israel and Algeria also extended offers for humanitarian aid.
On Friday night, Moroccans felt a magnitude 7 earthquake that dealt significant damage to various villages around the epicenter.
The official death toll currently stands at 1,037, with 1204 injured and 721 being in critical condition, numbers that are expected to rise further as rescue operations continue.
