Zambia coach Moses Sichone has insisted he is “not under pressure” despite his side needing a result against Comoros to revive their Africa Cup of Nations hopes.
The Chipolopolo find themselves bottom of Group C after losing their opening match, making Thursday’s encounter in Casablanca a must-win fixture.
“The game tomorrow is more of a decider, but I am not putting my players under pressure,” Sichone said. “I am not under pressure going into this game.”
The relaxed approach from the Zambian coach contrasts with the high stakes, as defeat would leave his side’s qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
Comoros coach Stefano Cusin, however, has made no secret of the match’s importance to his team’s campaign.
“The match against Zambia is extremely important,” said the Italian. “We will be facing a team with high-quality attackers. We have prepared well, and our approach will be adapted to our opponent’s style of play.”
Cusin is aware of the attacking threat Zambia pose but believes his side have done their homework. “This match means a lot to us, and we will do everything we can to win,” he added.
The island nation showed resilience in their opening fixture and will be confident of causing problems for a Zambian side under pressure to deliver.
Both coaches know three points would transform their team’s position in what is shaping up to be a competitive Group C.
The match kicks off at 17:30 GMT at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
