Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, continued their impressive World Cup qualifying campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Monday night, securing their second consecutive win in two days after a 5-0 victory against Chad on Friday.
The match was played at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco, with Madagascar hosting the game at a FIFA-approved neutral venue due to stadium constraints in their home country.
Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus were the key performers for Ghana, scoring in a dominant display that strengthens their position at the top of Group I.
Arsenal midfielder Partey opened the scoring in the 10th minute, heading home a precise free-kick from Jordan Ayew. This goal marked his 14th for the national team in just 51 appearances.
Coach Otto Addo made two changes to his starting lineup, bringing in Francis Abu and Jerome Opoku, with Inaki Williams and Ernest Nuamah starting on the bench.
The Black Stars, four-time African champions, maintained relentless pressure throughout the match. Despite Madagascar’s occasional counter-attacks, Ghana’s defence remained resolute.
Kudus added to the scoresheet later in the match, completing a comprehensive win that follows their earlier rout against Chad.
The victory sees Ghana extend their points tally to 15, after six matches, putting them in a strong position to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
