Recall that MyNigeria reported earlier that Justice Mohammed tendered his resignation on the night of Sunday, June 26 citing ill health.
His resignation comes amidst displeasure by justices and other stakeholders at the apex over the deteriorating conditions of the court.

Despite denying the earlier report, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah who is his media aide said the next most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola would be sworn-in later by President Mohammadu Buhari.
The Nation learned that Justice Muhammed came into his office earlier today, without his usual convoy of vehicles and security details.
He stayed briefly and left, but has not returned till then, an official said.
Justice Muhammad was also absent today at a training workshop for judges, organized by the National Judicial Institute (NJI) which he was expected to declare open.
Who is Justice Olukayode Ariwoola?
Born on August 22, 1958, he studied law at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile Ife and bagged his bachelor of laws degree with honors in July, 1980.
He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1981 after which he got enrolled at the Supreme Court of Nigeria as a Solicitor and Advocate soon thereafter.
Justice Ariwoola began his climb in the profession as he bagged his first appointment as a Judge of Superior Court of record in Oyo State in 1992 from private legal practice.
Before his elevation to the Supreme Court, he served as Justice of Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu and Lagos Divisions.
He was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2011. He was a Justice of the Court of Appeal between 2005 and 2011 after having been elevated from the State High Court of Oyo State, The Nations said.
He is next in rank to the retiring Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Muhammad Tanko.
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola retires in 2028.
