Angola witnessed a momentous occasion on Sunday, as the Moroccan national basketball team for local players secured an extraordinary triumph by winning the final match against their Ivorian counterparts. With a final score of 78 points, the Moroccan team emerged as the champions of the African championship, known as “Afrokan”.
The victory marked a historic milestone for Moroccan basketball, as it was the first time the national team clinched the prestigious African Cup of Nations title. The tournament, held in Angola from July 8 to July 16,2023, showcased the immense talent and determination of the participating teams.
Under the guidance of coach Labib Hamrani, the Atlas Lions embarked on their journey with a hard-fought opening match against Rwanda, ultimately prevailing with a score of 58-52. However, they faced a setback in their second game against Tunisia, losing 67-52.
