Premier League outfit Brentford FC are plotting a move for Egypt international and Wolfsburg forward Omar Marmoush, according to Sky Sports.
Marmoush spent last season on loan at Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart from VfL Wolfsburg after failing to convince then-head coach Mark van Bommel.
The 23-year-old enjoyed what has arguably been his best campaign at the top level, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 23 appearances, of which he started most of them.
His contributions were one of the main reasons behind Stuttgart remaining in the Bundesliga after finishing 15th following a final matchday drama.
Individually, Marmoush also claimed two Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards for his stellar performances in the months of September and April.
This, along with his increasingly important role with the national team led his parent club Wolfsburg to confirm his return for the next season.
However as Marmoush’s contract at the Volkswagen Arena ends in the summer of 2023, the Wolves could cash in on the Egyptian if they fail to convince him to pen a new deal.
VfB Stuttgart also are said to be keen on signing Marmoush permanently, with renowned-German news outlet BILD also linking him with moves to North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
On the other hand, SkySports has insisted that Wolfsburg are keen on keeping Marmoush for next season, but could be tempted to accept an offer from Brentford FC.
According to the report, the Bees are showing ‘concrete interest’ in Marmoush, who previously declared that playing in the Premier League is a big dream of his.
Moreover, earlier this year, the player has switched his consulting agency and hired ICM Stellar Sports, which has several Premier League stars under its name including Jack Grealish.
If news comes to be true Marmoush could become the first-ever Egyptian to play for Brentford and the 13th Pharaohs to ever represent a Premier-League club.
Thomas Frank’s men have been busy in the transfer market lately, having already signed Bologna’s Aaron Hickey for €22m and have been linked with a move for Hull City’s Keane Lewis-Potter.
