Burkina Faso’s new military leader, who seized power in a coup on Friday, says the entire country faces an emergency in every sector.
Wearing military fatigues as he appeared before the cameras, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, said urgent action was needed in areas such as defence, health and infrastructure.

Earlier, religious and traditional leaders in Burkina Faso said the ousted leader, Paul-Henri Damiba, had agreed to step down.
Unconfirmed reports say he has gone to neighbouring Togo.
The coup on Friday was the second this year in the country.
The failure to end a jihadist insurgency played a key role in both.
