The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2024 will take place in Cairo on Thursday, 19 September.
The event, scheduled for 17:00 local time (14:00 GMT), will determine the group stage match-ups for the tournament’s sixth edition, to be held from 19 to 26 October in the coastal city of Hurghada.
Eight teams will compete in the championship, with hosts Egypt joined by defending champions Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Tanzania, Mauritania, Mozambique and Malawi. The nations will be divided into two groups of four for the initial stage of the competition.
Senegal enter the tournament as favourites, having claimed the title on four previous occasions. However, they are likely to face stiff competition from the other participating nations, all vying for continental glory and a chance to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 in Seychelles.
This marks the second time Egypt has hosted the final tournament, following the 2018 edition in Sharm El Sheikh. Hurghada’s picturesque beaches are expected to provide an ideal backdrop for the event, attracting fans and enthusiasts from across the continent.
CAF has confirmed that the draw will be live-streamed on its digital platforms, including CAF TV on YouTube and the official CAFOnline.com website.
