Ghana’s Dreams FC have announced a free gate for the majority of the stands at the Baba Yara Stadium for their CAF Confederation Cup semifinal second leg clash against Egyptian giants Zamalek on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in a bold move to rally massive support.
It comes upon recommendation to make majority of the stadium accessible to fans for the showdown in Kumasi, official statement says.
“The management of Dreams Football Club has accepted a recommendation to make access to majority portions of the stadium for its return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Semi-Final against Zamalek free of charge,” the statement read.
“Consequently, the popular and center line stands of the Baba Yara Stadium for the game on Sunday, April 28, 2024, will be free.”
The club is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of an unprecedented feat – becoming the first Ghanaian side to reach the final of a continental club competition on their maiden attempt.
The club is hosting the match at the Baba Yara Stadium, as their home venue in Dawu fails to meet CAF standards. Despite this challenge, Dreams FC is determined to create history and has called upon the unwavering support of football enthusiasts across Ghana.
“We therefore urge all football enthusiasts in Ghana to gather in large numbers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to support the team as they strive to achieve historic qualification for the Grand Finale of the continental competition,” the statement read.
While the popular and center line stands will be open to the public free of charge, Dreams FC has made provisions for those seeking a more premium matchday experience. “Tickets for the VIP and VVIP stands shall, however, be sold at GHC 20 and GHC 50, respectively, to satisfy safety and security requirements,” the club announced.
Dreams FC’s decision comes on the heels of a hard-fought goalless draw against Zamalek in the first leg of the semifinal tie. Despite being under immense pressure for the majority of the game, the Ghanaian side held their ground, keeping their dreams of a historic final appearance alive.
As the ‘Still Believe’ lads gear up for the monumental second leg encounter, their clarion call for support echoes throughout the nation.
A packed Baba Yara Stadium could prove to be the catalyst that propels Dreams FC into the annals of African football history.
