Uganda coach Milutin Sredojevic says they are not afraid of facing Côte d’Ivoire in their decisive match at the TotalEnergies Algeria 2022 African Nations Championships in Algeria on Sunday.
The Cranes will clash with the Elephants in their third and final round of their Group B match at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers with the Ivorians chasing a win wihle a draw will be enough for Uganda to progress.
Sredojevic happy to participate in the CHAN, confirmed that his team is aiming for victory against Côte d’Ivoire: “There is not much difference between one generation and another in our team, we have good elements in the team. We know that the match against Ivory Coast will be difficult, we want to win the match.”
“Our work is based on three aspects, fighting for sacrifice, suffering to get what we want and team cohesion,” Milutin Sredojevic said.
In his statement, the Ugandan coach said he respects his rival Côte d’Ivoire but is not afraid of them: “I am afraid of God and I respect Côte d’Ivoire. In the 21 years I have worked in Africa, I have met Ivorians and their coaches. Côte d’Ivoire is a great football country. Those who do not respect Ivorian football will not succeed.”
Milutin Sredojevic also spoke about his preparation for the match: “With a lot of respect to everyone, talking about changes in our team remains confidential. It is only my staff’s and my business.”
Moses Waiswa also present at the press conference, explained how desperate his team was to be in the quarter-final, “We won 4 points, it’s a first for us at this stage of the game, we want to keep showing our progress.”
Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda kick off on Sunday at 8pm (local time) at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
