Ghana’s Black Stars have been handed a formidable task at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
The West African side will open their campaign against Panama on 17 June at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, before facing England six days later at Toronto’s BMO Field.
Ghana’s final group match will see them take on Croatia on 27 June at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The draw presents a significant challenge for the Black Stars, who will face two European sides with strong World Cup pedigrees. England, one of football’s traditional powers, have a rich tournament history, whilst Croatia have established themselves as consistent performers in recent years, reaching the 2018 final.
This will be the first time Ghana have met any of their group opponents at a World Cup, adding an element of unpredictability to the fixtures.
Panama, who made their World Cup debut at Russia 2018, have shown improvement in recent years and cannot be underestimated.
The group stage matches will be played across venues in the United States and Canada, as the tournament is hosted across three nations for the first time.
Ghana will need to produce their finest performances to progress from what promises to be a competitive group and reach the knockout stages.
Nations will discover the venues and kick-off times for their games on Saturday at 17:00 GMT, when FIFA unveils the full match schedule.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, taking place from 11 June to 19 July. The expanded tournament will be the biggest World Cup in history, with 48 teams competing across 104 matches.
