Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo has named a 25-man squad bolstered by experienced campaigners for the upcoming final Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger, as the Black Stars face an uphill battle to secure a place in the 2025 tournament.
Jordan Ayew will lead the side, which also features midfield dynamo Mohammed Kudus, pacy wingers Inaki Williams and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, as well as the skilled Alexanda Dziku and striker Antoine Semonyo.
Notably, the squad includes three local players – FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful, Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Anthony, and Nations FC defender Razak Simpson, all of whom have received their maiden call-ups.
Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta’s Ibrahim Sulemana have also been included in the squad for the crucial qualifiers.
Coach Otto Addo will be relying on the experience and talent of the selected players, including the three local debutants and seasoned internationals, to guide the Black Stars through these final qualifying hurdles and book their place in the prestigious 2025 AFCON tournament.
Ghana’s qualification hopes look slim, as they need to win both their remaining matches and hope that Sudan lose against Angola and Niger. Sudan only requires a draw to book their place, with Angola already guaranteed qualification.
