English actor, Idris Elba has congratulated Sierra Leone’s president and the entire citizens for last Saturday’s peaceful election.
Incumbent Julius Maada Bio was declared the winner of the presidential election which the opposition has disputed the count.
President Bio took Oath of Office on June 27, at the State House in Freetown, after receiving a landslide victory in the June 24, 2023 general elections to be re-elected Sierra Leone’s president for a second term of five years.
Going into the general election, Idris Elba called for peace in the election, which yielded results as no major incidents or violence were recorded.
The popular actor on Friday afternoon took to Twitter to congratulate Sierra Leoneans.
He said: “I’d like to congratulate @PresidentBio for your re-election and to the citizens of SL for voting peacefuly”.
“Acknowledging the difficulties faced, let not the country’s division define, but act as guidance for a better future”.
“Let’s push things forward for Mama Salone”, headded.
