The quarter-final line-up for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2025 has been confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage matches on Friday.
Eight teams have secured their places in the knockout stage of the tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, with four World Cup spots available for African teams.
Tournament hosts Egypt progressed with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania at the Suez Canal Stadium, joining DR Congo as one of the two best third-placed teams in the competition.
South Africa topped Group A after a 1-1 draw against neighbours Zambia, with Sierra Leone finishing second. Morocco claimed first place in Group B ahead of Nigeria, while Ghana led Group C with defending champions Senegal edging DR Congo on goal difference for second place.
The quarter-finals, scheduled for Monday, 12 May, feature several intriguing matchups. Defending champions Senegal face seven-time winners Nigeria in what promises to be a heavyweight clash, while hosts Egypt take on group winners Ghana.
Morocco, who remained unbeaten during the group stage with wins over Kenya and Tunisia plus a draw against Nigeria, will face Sierra Leone. South Africa complete the quarter-final fixtures against DR Congo.
Sierra Leone’s Momoh Kamara currently leads the tournament scoring charts with four goals as the competition moves into its decisive phase.
