A hashtag in demand for justice for an alleged murdered Moroccan student has been launched after the lifeless body of the young man was found hanging from the Wadi Iqim bridge in Skhirat early Thursday morning.
What was initially thought to be a passible suicide turned to point an alleged murder after it became evident, upon closer examination, that the victim’s hands were tied behind his back, prompting urgent questions about the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
The deceased was identified as Kenitra native Ayoub Abous, a graduate of the National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG) in El Jadida. Alongside the tragic scene, a bag containing some of Ayoub’s clothing was discovered.
Local authorities and Royal Gendarmerie forces responded to the scene shortly after the body was discovered. They were joined by civil protection units.
Authorities have launched an investigation to reveal the full circumstances surrounding Ayoub’s death. The victim’s body has been transported to the Rabat morgue for further examination, according to local reports.
The news of Ayoub’s death has sparked widespread outrage in Morocco, with demands for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
Social media users have launched the hashtag #JusticeForAyoub in French and Arabic in a unified call for justice and answers.
The Students’ Association at ENCG El Jadida released a statement yesterday expressing their condolences to Ayoub’s family and loved ones for the tragic loss of life.
“With profound sorrow and grief, we received today the news of the discovery of the body of our friend Ayoub Abous, a graduate of ENCGEl Jadida, hanging lifeless with a rope around the neck under the bridge of Wadi Ikem in the city of Skhirat,” said the statement.
