Kenya and Haiti sign agreement on the deployment of 1,000 police officers to the Multi-National Security Support Mission in Haiti.
Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry, was in Kenya for the signing of the agreement. He was confident that Kenya was going help us restore peace at his home country.
Speaking after the signing of the agreement, President Williams Ruto said: “Kenya haven been requested by member state accepted to led the coordination of this international mission”.
The president emphasised that there have been extensive engagement with member states to translate the global solidarity into concrete support for the Multi-National Security Support Mission.
Kenya’s government in 2023 approved the deployment of 1,000 police officers for the mission, it was subsequently challenged in court but the president said roads are clear now.
He therefore, called on other stakeholders and other partners that have made commitment to this journey that this journey is now urgent as it can get.
”Kenya associates itself with the people of Haiti because of our common heritage. We are offering the experience and expertise of our police officers in the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti as mandated by the United Nations Security Council and as guided by our courts,” Ruto.
Ruto also made reference to what was reported yesterday that a gang of criminals seized Haitian airport after Prime Minister traveled to Meet Kenyan leader.
