The Kenya national Under 19 rugby team, affectionately known as Chipu, has safely landed in Zimbabwe ahead of the 2024 Barthes U20 Trophy tournament.
Kenya kicks off their campaign against Namibia in the opening game of the tournament, before hosts Zimbabwe take on Tunisia in the late kick-off.
They are set in their quest to secure the continental title and earn the right to represent Africa at the World Rugby U20 Trophy 2024.
The 28-man Chipu squad, selected by Coach Simon Jawichre, arrived on Thursday, April 18, two days ahead of the game.
Kenya’s team features a mix of experienced players and promising debutants from various teams across the country, with 9 of the players selected from the squad that participated in the WU20s last year.
This year’s tournament features four participating countries: hosts Zimbabwe, Kenya’s Chipu, Namibia, and Tunisia.
The Barthes Trophy is the only junior tournament in Africa, with 8 national U20 teams competing for the prestigious title.
