The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has released the list nominees for its 2022 edition of the annual awards showcase.

This year’s edition has seen the highest number of entries hitting a total 9,067 entries having been submitted between August 20, 2021 to August 5, 2022 and considered for nomination.

The West African region dominated the nominations list leading the five African regions which have different artists nominated in different categories. Also featured are diaspora-based artists who according to AFRIMA contribute greatly to the growth of African music in the global market.

From Kenya, major acts nominated for different categories include Wanavokali (Best African band) Martin Obudho and Muthaka (Songwriter of the year), Nyashinski (Best artist in African hip hop) and Nikita Kering (Best Female artist in East Africa).

The public voting portal for the 2022 AFRIMA edition would be live on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. East African Time. African music lovers within the continent, and around the world, can visit the official website www.afrima.org to vote.

Voting closes at 01.00 (EAT) on December 10, 2022, before the AFRIMA main awards ceremony.

The 2022 AFRIMAs will be held from the 8th to 11th December, 2022 with a special announcement on the host country and location for the awards to be announced on September 30, 2022.
