Kenyan President William Ruto has met with his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame in Beijing, China, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and regional integration.
During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong alliance and strategic partnership between Kenya and Rwanda, highlighting their shared diplomatic, historical and cultural ties.
President Ruto emphasised the commitment of both nations to the East African Community, particularly in areas of regional integration, trade and fostering people-to-people relations.
A key point of discussion was the candidacy of Raila Odinga, former Kenyan Prime Minister, for the position of African Union Commission chairperson. President Ruto expressed support for Odinga’s bid to lead the continental body.
The meeting in Beijing underscores the importance both leaders place on African cooperation and representation in international forums.
As members of the East African Community, Kenya and Rwanda continue to play significant roles in shaping the region’s political and economic landscape.
