Morocco has unveiled a new National Football Training Fund aimed at developing young talent and revolutionising the sport’s infrastructure across the country.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), in partnership with the OCP Group and private investors, announced the initiative on 13 August 2024.
This fund marks a significant step towards professionalising training centres and promoting emerging football talents nationwide, aligning with royal directives for “efficient and transparent governance, and investment in infrastructure as much as in human capital”.
The strategic collaboration pools expertise and resources to bolster training facilities across Morocco. Its primary objective is to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, effective facility management and advanced technical expertise to ensure the professional development of young players.
Designed with a sustainable business model, the fund focuses on nurturing high-calibre players who can seamlessly integrate into professional clubs.
A specialised company, under the technical supervision of the FRMF’s National Technical Directorate, will manage the fund, aiming to establish a new benchmark for football training excellence in Morocco.
The project also emphasises social inclusion, cohesion and youth well-being, underlining sport’s role in personal development and football’s broader societal impact in Morocco.
This initiative comes as the country basks in the success of its national team, which reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first African and Arab nation to do so.
