Morocco’s international football player Achraf Hakimi was voted the best right-wingback in the world in a poll by American sports news outlet ESPN.
The poll, which takes votes from football experts, and reports, ranked Achraf Hakimi as the world’s best right-back, ahead of some world-class names such as Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, and Man City’s Kyle Walker.
PSG has given Hakimi “a chance to prove himself as the best right-back and/or wing-back in the world,” ESPN wrote.
“The 24-year-old continues to serve up solid numbers in attack — he has scored between four and seven league goals with 31 to 36 chances created for each of the past four seasons (he had five and 33, respectively, in 2022-23). But his work rate has also increased on defense,” the report adds.
Speculating about Hakimi’s future with PSG, ESPN writes that Hakimi “will likely remain one of the building blocks left behind in Paris. And if his role changes as the squad around him changes, the odds are good that he’ll respond with elite play regardless.”
Hakimi is renowned for his exceptional speed and technical versatility on the field. The talented Moroccan player played a pivotal role in the Atlas Lions’ remarkable performance during the 2022 World Cup, notably scoring the decisive penalty that secured victory against Spain in the round of 16.
Throughout his career, Hakimi has showcased his skills at various prestigious European clubs, including Real Madrid, where he contributed to their Champions League triumph, and Inter Milan, where he helped secure the Serie A title in Italy.
In the 2021-22 season, Hakimi achieved further success, winning France’s Ligue 1 and the Trophée des Champions with his current club, Paris-Saint Germain.
His recent achievements have earned him recognition and acclaim, as he was honored by being selected for the IFFHS Men’s World Team of 2022, a testament to his exceptional talent and contributions to the sport.
