Some Nigeriens in Ghana have commenced picketing their Embassy in Accra, demanding the reinstatement of ousted president Mohamed Bazoum.
The Niger citizens call for peace and urged the Junta leaders to restate Mohamed Bazoum as legally elected president that will recognize.
The military junta has also stated its intentions to prosecute him.
In a statement read out on national television late on Sunday, a spokesman for Niger’s military laid out the charges against Bazoum as “high treason and undermining the internal and external security” of the country.
But according to the Nigeriens living in Ghana, President Bazzoum’s government has been the best in recent years.
They believe the junta will not develop the country.
Speaking to journalists, One Alhaji Sule Haruna, the leader of the picketers believes Niger has developed under the governance of the deposed president. He said Niger is a democratic county and therefore they prefer constitutional ruling to Military rule.
The Nigerien president was ousted on 26 July by the military via a coup. The present has been kept in the president’s palace basement since the coup.
The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, said yesterday in Accra, Ghana, that it will not hesitate to invade Niger Republic, if all efforts to reverse the coup in the country fail.
ECOWAS says they have enough military resources to counter Niger’s junta.
