Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Thursday hosted Maxwell Gomera, the outgoing United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative, at Urugwiro Village for a farewell meeting as Mr. Gomera concludes his posting in Rwanda.
Mr. Gomera has served as the UNDP Resident Representative in Rwanda since 2019, overseeing UNDP operations and development projects across the country. During his tenure, he worked closely with the government of Rwanda to advance sustainable development goals and target initiatives reducing poverty, providing access to clean water and sanitation, promoting renewable energy, and more.
President Kagame expressed his appreciation for Mr. Gomera’s service and congratulated him on successfully completing his posting. The president highlighted the key UNDP initiatives launched under Mr. Gomera’s direction and reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to continued close cooperation with UNDP.
Mr. Gomera will be moving on to take on a new appointment with UNDP in another country. The UNDP Rwanda office will soon name his replacement as Resident Representative.
