Sharaf Mahama, son of former Ghanaian President John Mahama, has officially become a licensed FIFA Agent after passing the requisite exams, joining a tall list of Ghanaians who want to impact the game globally.
The milestone of the young man marks a new phase for the football enthusiast as he aims to contribute to the development of the sport in Ghana and internationally.
Mahama expressed his desire to use this platform to nurture the next generation of Ghanaian football stars.
“I’m thrilled to have achieved this certification as a FIFA Agent,” stated the younger Mahama. “My passion lies in elevating the game of football, particularly creating more opportunities for talented Ghanaian players to showcase their abilities on the global stage.”
As a FIFA Agent, Mahama will serve as an intermediary facilitating the transfers of professional players between clubs around the world.
With his family’s prominent background and networks, he is positioned to become an influential voice in the player representation space.
His father John Mahama served as President from 2012 to 2017, initially ascending to the role after the death of John Atta Mills before winning the 2012 election outright before losing re-election to Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016. He is now the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party ahead of Ghana’s 2024 presidential polls.
By obtaining his FIFA Agent credentials, Sharaf Mahama has taken a significant first step in his quest to leave a lasting impact on the beautiful game, both for Ghana’s football development and the sport globally.
Ghana has produced some of Africa’s most iconic footballers like Abedi Pele, Michael Essien and currently Mohammed Kudus of Ajax.
However, many argue that more can be done systematically to capitalize on the country’s wealth of raw talent.
