Ugandan President Yuweri Museveni has pledged his unwavering support for the private sector in a bid to boost the Ugandan economy, calling for “more investors, especially in manufacturing and agro-processing”.
Speaking during the grand opening of the exquisite Four Points Hotel established by the Sheraton Kampala, the president said Uganda has everything it needs to achieve economic success.
The colourful event, held on Tuesday, October 31st, was attended by government officials, local business leaders, and international dignitaries.
President Museveni emphasised the crucial role of the private sector in driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities for Ugandans.
“As a country, we have everything from raw materials, the internal market of 46 million people, the East African market of 700 million, and the market of Africa of 1.7 billion for goods and services,” he said.
“We shall continue to support the private sector because it strengthens the economy, which is what Uzalendo (Nationalism/Patriotism) actually means. A strong economy allows the country to be independent. “
The Four Points by Sheraton Kampala, a stunning addition to Uganda’s hospitality industry, is expected to attract both local and international tourists. With its state-of-the-art facilities and world-class services, the hotel aims to provide exceptional comfort and luxury to guests visiting the capital city.
During his speech, President Museveni expressed his delight at the establishment of such prestigious accommodation in Kampala.
The president also assured investors of his government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish. He promised to address any challenges hindering investment, including improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and simplifying bureaucratic processes.
The opening of Four Points by Sheraton Kampala marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s efforts to promote tourism and attract foreign direct investment. With the support of the government, the private sector is poised to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and transforming the country into a regional hub for tourism and business.
