Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has announced a 25-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying doubleheader against Sudan.
The matches are scheduled for Friday, October 11, at the Accra Sports Stadium, and Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benina, Libya.
Key defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah return to the squad after missing out on the previous qualifiers. Notably, FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful earns his debut call-up following standout performances in the domestic league and CAF Champions League preliminary rounds.
Other big names include Arsenal’s midfield maestro Thomas Partey, AS Monaco’s defender Mohammed Salisu, and forward Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao. Additionally, Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta’s Ibrahim Sulemana make their return to the team after overcoming injury setbacks.
The squad boasts a mix of experienced players and rising stars. Mohammed Kudus of West Ham, Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo are among the forwards tasked with leading Ghana’s attack.
Ghana’s Black Stars will be aiming to secure crucial points from both encounters as they work toward qualification for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
