Kenyan President William Ruto delivered speeches in Atlanta during his recent U.S. visit, drawing inspiration from the legacies of Martin Luther King Jr. and former President Jimmy Carter, prominent champions of civil rights and democracy.


Ruto paid tributes to Martin Luther King Jr. and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter during his recent visit to Atlanta, Georgia, invoking their legacies that had a powerful impact in shaping history and advancing democracy and justice.

At The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change during his trip to Atlanta, the Kenyan leader delivered speeches highlighting their enduring influence.

In a social media post, Ruto reflected on their tireless devotion as he visited renowned sites honoring their life’s work.

“In embracing the enduring legacies of Martin Luther King Jr. and Jimmy Carter, we are reminded of the powerful impact that individuals can have in shaping history and advancing democracy and justice,” Ruto stated.

The Kenyan leader revealed that he spoke at The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum and toured the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change during his trip to Atlanta.

“As we reflect on their tireless devotion to the pursuit of a better world, we reaffirm our focus to building societies that are not only resilient in the face of adversity but also inclusive and just,” Ruto wrote on his social media channels.

By highlighting the examples of King’s nonviolent civil rights leadership and Carter’s pursuit of global human rights and democracy, President Ruto signaled Kenya’s commitment to fostering a more equitable and just society.
