Indications are that there will be a slight petrol price hike in early December, but the news on the diesel front is excellent!
While it is still too early to accurately predict what lies ahead next week for petrol and diesel prices, the latest data available from the Central Energy Fund – as of 25 November – shows contrasting signs.
Fluctuations in international product prices and rand weakness show the following under-recoveries (price increases) for petrol and over-recoveries (price decreases) for diesel:
Fuel | Price change |
Petrol 93 | increase of 38 cents per litre |
Petrol 95 | increase of 49 cents per litre |
Diesel 0.05% | decrease of 136 cents per litre |
Diesel 0.005% | decrease of 129 cents per litre |
Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale) | decrease of 31 cents per litre |
If these market conditions persist for the next week or so, a hike is on the cards for December for petrol users of between 38 to 49 cents, while diesel motorists can expert a 129 to 136 cents per litre decrease.
