Morocco’s international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, also known as Bono, is set for Saudi Arabia as he did not return to Spain with his club Sevilla from Greece on Wednesday, Marca reported.
The sports-focused news outlet said that the Atlas Lion is traveling directly to Saudi Arabia to finalize his transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal.
The outlet further explained that Bono is steps away from finalizing his deal with Al Hilal, with only the contract signing and medicals left.
Marca also described Bono’s game yesterday against Manchester City as part of the Super Cup as the goalkeeper’s last service for the Spanish club.
“He wanted to continue at the highest level,” Marca said, suggesting that the offer the Saudi club is bidding is hard to reject.
The news outlet also acknowledged that Sevilla is losing one of its key players.
Reports on serious negotiations between Bounou and Al Hilal have been going viral since the beginning of this week.
The Atlas Lion has been attracting the attention of many clubs, with several reports linking him to be one of the favorite replacements for Courtois – who sustained a serious injury last week.
The Atlas Lion gained momentum during his appearances with Morocco’s national team during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he was named the man of the game at least three times throughout the tournament.
Bono’s eye-catching and sterile performances with Sevilla FC also earned him admiration and respect from international fans and experts.
In addition to Real Madrid, many clubs were setting sights on the Moroccan keeper, including German champions Bayern Munich.
