The Nigerian music scene has definitely come a long way. Now we have Nigerian musicians topping not just local music charts but also international music charts.
While these musicians have graced our screens dropping solo albums and singles, some paired up either by birth or by agreement or by friendship and alignment of dreams.
It is none contestable that the Nigerian music scene has produced some major exceptional music duo, who helped change, evolve and get the Nigerian music scene to where it is today by delivering exceptional music over the last 3 decades.
While Nigerians is at the edge of their seats expecting hit singles and albums from them, here are 5 greatest duos that ever graced the Nigerian music scene;
1.Psquare
Peter and Paul Okoye known as members of the Psquare singing group are one duo who still grabs the hearts of Nigerians, whenever they step on the big stage and screen.
The twin brothers who went their separate ways five years ago are back and better. While they separated as a result of a family feud, they both developed their individual music career, going by the names Rudeboy (Paul) and Mr P (Peter).
Even as they went solo, they still topped charts, but to fans home and abroad, nothing felt like the Psquare whom they missed. Then this year, just before their 40th birthday, they reconciled and fans went berserk with joy.
Now they are back giving hit jams from the Psquare we have all missed, and we can say they definitely deserve to be number one on this list.
2.Bracket
This group was initially made up of three members but a member called Bishop dropped out and we had Bracket.
Their R&B songs especially Yori Yori is forever hit single. Obumneme Ali a.k.a. “Smash” and Nwachukwu Ozioko a.k.a. “Vast” who composed of this group, made love, sound and feel super sweet.
They have had several features with Wizkid, Tekno, Tuface, the list is a long one as is their musical talent and history.
3. Danfo Drivers
The Danfo Drivers was made up of Mad Melon and Mountain Black, and they blessed us with jams that portrayed ghetto life in Nigeria, especially Ajegunle.
One of their greatest hits Danfo Driver (Suo) leaves rent-free in the heads of Nigerian music lovers.
It was sad news when a report revealed that Mad Melon died back in 2019. For their amazing hits, they will always remain one of the greatest.
4.Rooftop MCs
This duo were the hip-hop boundary breakers, that long proved that your love for rap should not in any way limit one from spreading the gospel. Their reign was for a short while, but it was an impactful one.
5.KC Presh
The duo KC Presh comprised of Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo aka KCee and Precious John aka Presh.
The two met in church and signed up for the Star Quest TV show which they won. They gave us hits likes “Shokori Bobo” and “National Cake“.
But after 12 years together, Kcee and Presh decided to pursue solo careers. They had a lot of features and definitely wowed us when they were still together.
