Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has expressed gratitude for China’s “continued and multifaceted support” during talks with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Mr Abiy said Ethiopia was making “significant strides” in various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing and tourism, with Chinese investments playing a “key role” in this progress.
The Ethiopian leader highlighted “substantial potential for growth” in areas such as tourism and the paper and pulp industry.
“We are deeply committed to further strengthening our partnership,” Mr Abiy said following discussions with the Chinese president.
The prime minister’s comments come as Ethiopia seeks to bolster its economy, which has faced challenges in recent years.
China has been a major investor in Ethiopia, funding and constructing major infrastructure projects across the country.
Mr Abiy’s visit to Beijing is seen as part of Ethiopia’s efforts to attract further Chinese investment and deepen bilateral ties.
