Key upsets mark fourth round of qualifiers as Morocco cruise past Central African Republic

The fourth round of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers delivered dramatic finishes and significant results across the continent.

Morocco showcased their strength with a commanding 4-0 victory over Central African Republic, with Seghir netting twice before Youssef En-Nesyri and Abde Ezzalzouli added further goals.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mané secured a crucial win for Senegal with a 96th-minute strike against Malawi, while Algeria continued their impressive form, edging Togo 1-0 through Ramy Bensebaini’s penalty.

Sierra Leone produced one of the round’s biggest upsets, defeating Ivory Coast 1-0, while Sudan shocked Ghana with a 2-0 victory.

DR Congo’s Merveille Elia scored twice late on to secure a 2-0 win over Tanzania, and Egypt earned three valuable points in Mauritania thanks to Ibrahim Adel’s 85th-minute winner.

In other notable results, Cameroon managed a narrow 1-0 victory over Kenya, while Zimbabwe overcame Namibia 3-1 with Kennedy Musona scoring twice.
