Liverpool’s Sadio Mané secured a crucial win for Senegal with a 96th-minute strike against Malawi, while Algeria continued their impressive form, edging Togo 1-0 through Ramy Bensebaini’s penalty.
Sierra Leone produced one of the round’s biggest upsets, defeating Ivory Coast 1-0, while Sudan shocked Ghana with a 2-0 victory.
DR Congo’s Merveille Elia scored twice late on to secure a 2-0 win over Tanzania, and Egypt earned three valuable points in Mauritania thanks to Ibrahim Adel’s 85th-minute winner.
In other notable results, Cameroon managed a narrow 1-0 victory over Kenya, while Zimbabwe overcame Namibia 3-1 with Kennedy Musona scoring twice.
