The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe is scheduled to meet with Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara on Thursday January 11 in Abidjan.
The visit comes just two days before the kick-off of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations being held in Ivory Coast. Motsepe is currently in Abidjan along with CAF leadership and the Local Organizing Committee to finalize preparations for the tournament.
Motsepe’s meeting with President Ouattara will be an opportunity to discuss plans for the AFCON event and thank the Ivorian government for hosting. This AFCON is the 34th edition of the prestigious continental championship.
After the meeting, CAF will be syndicating photographs that will be free for editorial use. The images are likely to show Motsepe and Ouattara together as they discuss the imminent AFCON games.
Ivory Coast has been gearing up for the tournament which will attract hundreds of thousands of spectators to stadiums across the country. The opening match takes place this Saturday January 13th.
Motsepe’s visit to President Ouattara will be the second since Ivory Coast won the bid to host the Tournament and it demonstrates the close coordination between CAF and the Ivorian government as they work to deliver a successful AFCON tournament.
