Cameroon is in the “final phase” of preparations for World Youth Day (WYD) 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal, scheduled to take place in August, the National Youth Chaplain of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) has said.
In a Friday, June 23 interview with ACI Africa, Fr. Clement Mevo said that the delegation from Cameroon that will participate in the August 1-6 event comprises 109 youth, 22 Catholic Priests, and a woman Religious.
“The WYD is practically in the final phase of its preparation here in Cameroon,” Fr. Mevo said.
He added, “At the level of the Episcopal Conference, our preparation started a long time ago with last year’s celebration of the national youth days, which had the same theme as World Youth Day: Mary arose and went with haste (Lk 1:39).”
The member of the Clergy of Cameroon’s Yaounde Archdiocese said registration for the event started in February and was concluded in March this year.
